Our Owner and Founder, Robert Chambers (hiker name Frosty), passed away in April 2021. He was a spontaneous and creative individual that adored adventure and loved helping others. To honor his legacy, The Frosty Fund @ HAT has been created.
Robert served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam war, attended Auburn University, and developed many successful businesses throughout his life and across North America. His entrepreneurial spirit brought him from Georgia to Montreal to Hanover, then New York and finally resettling in New Hampshire. In his spare time, he loved being outdoors on a bike, snowshoes or skis, hiking with the dog, and spending time with his family. Read his obituary here, (condolences can be left below or at the Rand-Wilson Funeral Home online obituary).
He started the Hanover Adventure Tours organization with the mission to help others get outdoors and explore. With a love of hiking he wanted a hostel dedicated to bringing community together and supporting the Appalachian Trail hikers on their journey. With a love of biking and of New England he wanted to bring electric bikes to the area to share a fun way to see the world.
In the effort to honor his memory, Hanover Adventure Tours is accepting donations to provide funding for essential healthcare workers to have an e-bike tour or outdoor rental to thank them for their dedication to caring for others. This gift is a way for them to care for themselves. Robert strongly believed the hospital/EMT workers saved his life multiple times, and understood that the outdoors saved his life and his sanity every day.
We are working with local hospitals to provide a free ride/rental to essential hospital workers. HAT is working to partner with a local non-profit to make this a long-term component of our organization, and to make this tax-deductable (at current time we are just accepting donations until we finalize our partnership). This is meant to show support for the hard work of hospital workers, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. If you are interested in honoring Robert's vision in this way, or would like to donate a rental (e-bike, kayak, canoe, etc.) to a medical professional, please make contributions to The Frosty Fund @ HAT here:
