We are a small organization that loves community and outdoor adventure. Every team member contributes to bringing a top HAT experience to customers.
HAT is here for the community, by the community, and with the community.
Hanover Adventure Tours (HAT) opened in June 2019 originally as a hiker hostel (the Norwich Hiker Hostel). The goal was always to have a bike shop as well, and after our first season as a hostel we expanded to include bike rentals and sales. As we grew, we have expanded to offer all sorts of adventure equipment and experiences throughout New England. The original idea came from Robert Chambers who loved adventuring and the hiker community. He and his daughter biked across the country in 2011 and he continued to have a love of the sport. As he grew older, he wanted to still bike with ease, so he discovered electric biking. Robert passed away in 2021 and the HAT mission to provide a great outdoor adventure for all is still alive and well! Including 'The Frosty Fund' to raise money for healthcare workers to enjoy the great outdoors as a sincere thank you for all the hard work they do.

Michael was born and raised in Upstate New York. After spending time working the traditional work schedule, he realized that it was not for him. He spent 11 years in the military and was deployed 3 times. The leadership and supervisory experience he gained in the Armed Forces, combined with his current seasonal adventures, has allowed him to provide outstanding human relations to guests, visitors, kids, and everyone in between wherever he has worked.
In his spare time, he enjoys trail running, rock climbing, skydiving, zip lining, archery, hiking, playing guitar, reading, and biking. His future ambitions are to learn to scuba dive, go shark cage diving, and bouldering.
